Progress in Practice
Supportive, practical tools that help you understand what’s happening beneath the moments you navigate in a neurodivergent family.
Straight from a psychologist who gets it and is here to give you support and tools to support calmer moments in everyday family life, through a family-centred process that supports you to understand what’s happening for your neurodivergent child … and bring that understanding into the moments that matter most – mornings, mealtimes, and meltdowns included. Because the most meaningful learning and support often take place in the moments between appointments … within everyday family life and the relationships that matter most.
I see you.
You’re the parent of a neurodivergent child.
You love them deeply — and some days everything feels heavier than you expected.
The stress. The worry. The big emotions.
Some moments feel unpredictable, overwhelming, or just plain exhausting.
You may find yourself wondering:
Am I missing something? Why is this so hard? What would actually help?
You’re not alone.
Progress in Practice is a space to understand what’s driving those harder moments — and explore ways to support your child that build on this understanding in everyday life. It offers clear, practical guidance shaped around your family, so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence.

Meet Emma...
Parenting a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming, especially when the usual advice doesn’t seem to fit. I work with parents who want support that makes sense in the context of everyday family life.
I’m Emma — a registered psychologist and a mum of three wonderfully neurodivergent kids. My work is shaped by both my professional background and the lived experience of raising a neurodivergent family.
I’ve been practising as a psychologist since 2009, and my private practice has focused on supporting neurodivergent children and their families since 2019. Over this time, I’ve offered assessments, parent sessions, therapeutic work and group programs for families navigating similar questions and challenges.
This package brings together the approaches, ideas, and perspectives that consistently support my work with families and in my own home. It’s designed to help you build confidence in the everyday moments and feel better equipped to understand what’s happening for your child — in ways that align with your values, your capacity, and your family’s unique story.
Meet the Messy Moment Approach
Kids learn and grow through real-life experiences — the mornings, the meltdowns, the mess, and all the everyday moments in between.
This approach begins with what life actually looks like for your family and focuses on small, meaningful supports that can be tried in daily life.
Together, we explore what’s happening beneath behaviour, strengthen the foundations that support wellbeing, and look for opportunities in those tiny everyday moments where learning and connection often unfold.
When we anchor support in real-life moments, it becomes something families can use — not just talk about.
Support That Fits Real Life
Each part of the Loft has been carefully created to help you feel more confident, connected, and supported at home.
Initial 1:1 Parent Session
A 60-minute session to explore what life looks like for your family, what matters to you, and where you’re hoping to go.
You feel seen, supported, and clear on what matters most so we can move forward in a way that fits your family.
Messy Moments Approach
You’ll be guided by a framework that values the everyday as the most powerful place for learning and growth. Support is centred on the real moments of daily life, not just what happens in sessions.
This helps create meaningful change where it matters most, in your home with your family.
Family Support Map
A personalised plan we create together that links your family’s goals with the parts of the Loft content that fit best right now.
You’ll have a clear focus, feel more settled about where to start, and notice progress that actually feels meaningful for your family.
Group calls and additional parent sessions are optional, and for families who choose them, they often provide a helpful anchor alongside the work we do through the Progress in Practice package.
Six Group Calls
A space to reflect on what’s happening at home, explore concepts together, and connect with other parents.
Calls run every four weeks across six-months. You’re welcome to show up exactly as you are and participate in whatever way feels right.
Direct Booking Link
A straightforward booking link you can use to organise extra parent sessions as needed.
It’s included in the Progress in Practice package to make organising sessions easier and more flexible.
What We’ll Be Looking At Together
Every family’s map looks a little different, but there are patterns that tend to show up in many homes.
Progress in Practice helps you understand of the moments that keep looping … mornings, mealtimes, meltdowns, transitions, tired afternoons … and notice the themes that sit underneath them.
Your Family Support Map focuses on two priority areas that matter most for your child and family right now. Depending on what you are noticing, these areas may include:
- Understanding Brain-Based Barriers — making sense of executive functioning and the things that can get in the way of follow-through.
- Calmer Mornings — easing pressure and shaping routines that fit your family.
- Supporting Sleep Foundations — exploring ways to support rest, rhythms, and recovery.
- Self-Regulation and Energy Awareness — noticing and understanding energy shifts across the day.
- Emotional Regulation — understanding what’s happening when emotions intensify and exploring supportive responses.
- Flexible Thinking and Transitions — supporting your child when plans change or things feel uncertain.
- Afternoon Unravelling — navigating that end-of-day fatigue with less friction.
- Confidence and Self-Concept — supporting strengths, identity, and a sense of capability.
- Well-being through Play, Nature, and Movement — considering everyday activities that support balance and regulation.
- Motivation and Interests — leaning into strengths and passions as natural entry points for engagement.
- Family Rhythms and Home Environment — shaping daily life to support everyone’s energy and connection.
- Common Concerns — looking at everyday challenges like screen time, sibling relationships, and school stressors.
You won’t work on all of these — in fact, the point is the opposite. We choose those areas that feel most relevant right now and build from there. Your Map gives you a clear starting point, and the ongoing support helps you explore things at a pace that feels manageable for your family.
Getting Started with Progress in Practice
If you’ve been trying to make sense of what’s happening for your neurodivergent child, and everyday moments still feel heavier or more confusing than they need to be, this process can help you build a clearer understanding of the bigger picture.
Progress in Practice supports families to explore what’s showing up at home — the patterns, the challenges, the moments that keep looping — and translate that insight into everyday guidance that fits your child, your family, and your routines.
The package is $1,980.42 (not including ongoing parent group or 1:1 support sessions), with each stage billed separately so families can use NDIS Capacity Building or private funding. The process is intentionally steady (usually completed over several weeks), giving space for reflection between each stage and allowing your guide to be carefully prepared.
If this feels like it may be the right fit for your family, the next step is to complete the referral form.
Once I’ve reviewed your information, I’ll be in touch about availability and the steps that follow.
My aim is to help you understand what may be beneath those tricky moments, so the sudden shifts that come with parenting a neurodivergent child feel a little less bewildering and more manageable.
