From Soap to Sausages: Understanding Big Feelings and Little Triggers in Neurodivergent Kids
A 60-minute webinar about Flexible thinking – the brain-based challenge behind meltdowns, chaos, and walking on eggshells
Maybe this sounds a bit like your days too…
- Your child has big reactions to small changes.
- Everyday shifts in plans, routines, or expectations can spark meltdowns.
- Home sometimes feels like you’re walking on eggshells.
At my place, it shows up as meltdowns over the soap not being the right berry scent, the sausages not in the right spot in the pan, or leaving Bunnings without buying the hammer my son had his heart set on. For some kids, these little shifts feel enormous. A plan not going to plan can tip them straight into chaos — and for us as parents, it can feel like we’re forever walking on eggshells, waiting for the next explosion.
In this 60-minute session, we’ll talk about:
- What “flexible thinking” actually is (in plain language).
- Why struggles with it show up as meltdowns, rage, or shutdowns.
- Real-life ways to make sense of these moments so they don’t feel quite so overwhelming.
In this parent information session I speak as a mum (living the soap, sausages, and hammer meltdowns at home) and as a psychologist (understanding what’s happening in the brain when kids get stuck).
You’ll walk away with that mix of real-life insight and professional understanding — a clearer picture of what’s happening beneath the surface, and how shifting perspective can bring more calm and connection into family life.
